Why Choose Forge®?

Why Choose Forge®?

Did you know that over 85% of people in the UK own and regularly wear Sunglasses and Eyewear??

Given the angle of the Earth to the Sun, combined with changing atmospheric conditions, we are at an increasing risk of eye damage from UV rays.

We get it, Sunglasses and Eyewear are everywhere, you see them every day, on pretty much everyone, and you are inundated with options and brands, all offering their products at varying price points.  Customers are spoilt for choice...

Below, we've put together a few reasons why we hope you will choose Forge over the multitude of other brands on the market.

Our Quality

At the Forge Eyewear Co. we believe in utilising only the best quality materials and processes to create a truly beautiful product that will maintain not only it's luxury aesthetic quality, but also be high performance, proving highly durable and long-lasting.

To do this we source only premium components that have more than proved they are up to the task over a 100 years+ of refinement , and meld them with ultra-modern techniques to bring a best in class product.

Whilst respecting the heritage and traditions of eyewear manufacturing, we're also a tech-forward company, utilising the latest CNC machines and computer-aided design.  Forge is at the leading-edge of modern eyewear design and manufacturing.

Our Materials

You'd be surprised at the number of major eyewear manufacturers who use very cheap, mass-production process, which we believe results in a completely inferior product, but still charge absolutely premium prices...  (Yes, all those big-name companies you can think of!).

As the name implies, injection-mould frames are made by injecting a more brittle petroleum-based plastic that is liquified, then injected into an aluminium or stainless steel mould.

Petroleum products are much more harmful to the environment, however our beautiful cellulose acetate is made from natural, renewable materials.

Injection-moulded frames can be less expensive but considered to be much lower quality.

At Forge® in our Sunglasses frames we use high-quality Italian Mazzuchelli® cellulose acetate, or high-strength tempered Forge® metalwork wire framing.  Mazzuchelli® has been making acetate for about 170 years, so they know what they are doing...

Did you know our acetate frames are produced sustainably, ethically, and are hypoallergenic and biodegradable?

What the hell is cellulose acetate?

Cool, so Cellulose is the stuff in plant cells that helps the plant stay upright.  Cellulose acetate is an awesome material - it comes from nature, its hypoallergenic, made from a renewable resource, lightweight, and very strong!

Acetate, although very durable, will actually break down and compost in the right active-soil conditions.

Our new, 2020 Bio Acetate will break down even faster, around 30% quicker, and retains 100% of strength and durable robustness!

Our Lens Quality

We only use the absolute best in the business.

ZEISS® - making the best-quality lenses for eyewear since the mid-1800's.  That's plenty of time to make them the best on the market.

Polaroid® - no, not the instant camera, but Polaroid were the first to produce Polarised lenses, all the way back in 1929.

NEW - VividHD® - we've been working really hard on producing a new lens for our Goggles that increases depth perception and detail contrast.

Our Service

Hey we appreciate buying online can feel a little risky, and daunting, as you can't physically touch, try and feel the item before purchasing.  So we are more than happy to accept returns and exchanges on all our products if they turn up and you aren't 100% happy.

We have team members situated locally in all our markets, standing by to assist in any way they can, be it by chat function, message, email or phone.  We aim for customer satisfaction every single time.

Our Value

Sunglasses, Goggles & Optics are expensive!  Items that seem to have become pretty much mandatory in our culture can set customers back hundreds of dollars. Not to mention if you are an active-wearer - so require multiple sets of eyewear & goggles for your active lifestyle.

With that in mind, we do our best to try and reduce the cost of premium products to a more manageable price for our customers.

Our quality is the same, or better than the competition, however as a direct-to-consumer brand, we don't carry the same overheads heritage brands have - so we pass all efficiencies onto our wearers where we can.

You get a best in class product, for a more manageable price.

Our Promise Warranty

We believe in our products.  We use only the best materials and manufacturing techniques, so we stand by that with Our Promise Warranty - a guarantee on all our materials and construction.  If it fails in the Warranty period, we will repair or replace - for free, and we'll cover the postage too.

Our Team

Forge is a collaboration of experts in design, product development, technical & performance manufacturing, operations and customer service.  From the outset the mission was to bring the highest quality products, for the best price, to ensure we offer the best value we can for our customers.

Through this collaboration, Forge® has grown rapidly to form a powerful team of experts who work together to bring the best in eyewear & optics to our customers, with an emphasis on product design, quality, performance, value and service.

Our products are the result of expertise, experience, extensive testing, and a no-compromise approach to everything we do.

Our Sustainable approach

Did you know that even though it's extremely strong and durable, our Italian Cellulose Acetate frames will breakdown and compost in around 180 days in active soil?  Our brand-new bioacetate is even better - only 120 days on average!

In developed economies, about a third of plastic is used in packaging and about another third in production.  Worldwide, about 50kg of plastic is produced annually per person, with production doubling every ten years.

We firmly believe in our choice of materials and our considered and ethical approach to production processes, and we hope you will choose our quality sunglasses and optics.

We are always looking for better, more sustainable processes and materials to use in our production, and throughout our company and operations.  We have revamped our packaging to include completely compostable delivery and protective packaging.

We are currently developing a brand-new type of sunglasses case that is durable, robust, but will also breakdown and not add to landfill pollution when it's useful life is over.

Our Commitment to supporting our Communities

Did you know that at Forge® we offer discounted Sunglasses to registered local businesses, educational facilities, military and blue-light service personnel?

We are proud to partner with local businesses, schools, universities and emergency services to provide quality-eyewear for their students, staff and employees, as well as supporting local and national charities and events.

We also support up and coming talented people and teams in a wide range of areas like music, sport, fashion, design and exploration to assist in achieving their goals.

We really hope you will choose Forge® as your sunglasses and eyewear provider.  We'll see you out there.
